SNAP Employment & Training

Providing employment and training to thousands of SNAP clients

Nationwide, thousands of people who use Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program (SNAP) to increase their food budget as they move toward self-sufficiency also want to enter and succeed in the workforce. Through SNAP Employment & Training Programs – like those offered at employment social enterprises – they receive on-the-job training, work experience, and support to make that happen.

REDF connects the employment social enterprise sector with SNAP Employment & Training programs so that more SNAP clients across the country can access this vital support. In turn, enterprises tap into a sustainable public funding source to support their businesses.

Through tailored curriculum and one-to-one technical assistance delivered in partnership with Seattle Jobs Initiative, Center for Employment Opportunities, and FareStart, REDF is equipping hundreds of enterprises to become SNAP Employment & Training providers.

Webinar Series

Our SNAP E&T webinar series provides employment social enterprise staff with an overview of the program and its requirements to determine if SNAP E&T is a good match for their enterprise. Watch the recordings of the 2024 webinar series if you are interested in learning more.

Technical Assistance Cohort

Over ten months, organizations in the SNAP E&T Technical Assistance Cohort receive a combination of specialized training, technical assistance, and peer mentorship to begin or expand their SNAP E&T services.

Participating organizations access technical assistance expertise from Seattle Jobs Initiative and Center for Employment Opportunities, and are paired with a dedicated consultant who offers focused assistance on program development and expansion. Cohort members collaborate with peers and seasoned SNAP E&T partners, access helpful resources, learn about effective strategies, and share program successes over 10 months of cohort meetings and trainings.

Meet the members of our 2021 and 2022 technical assistance cohorts.
