SNAP Employment & Training

Providing employment and training to thousands of SNAP clients

Nationwide, thousands of people who utilize Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program (SNAP) to increase their food budget as they move toward self-sufficiency also want to enter and succeed in the workforce. Through SNAP Employment & Training Programs – like those offered at employment social enterprises – they receive on-the-job training, work experience, and support to make that happen.

REDF connects the employment social enterprise sector with SNAP Employment & Training programs so that more SNAP clients across the country can access this vital support. In turn, enterprises tap into a sustainable public funding source to support their businesses.

Through tailored curriculum and one-to-one technical assistance delivered in partnership with Seattle Jobs Initiative and Center for Employment Opportunities, REDF is equipping hundreds of enterprises to become SNAP Employment & Training providers.

Funding for this project was provided by United States Department of Agriculture. USDA is an equal opportunity employer and provider.

Webinar Series

Our six-part SNAP E&T webinar series provides employment social enterprise staff with an overview of the program and its requirements to determine if it’s a good match for their enterprise. Learn more about the series here. Registration will open in Spring 2022.

Technical Assistance Cohort

In 2021, 22 employment social enterprises seeking to begin or expand their SNAP E&T services were selected for REDF’s inaugural SNAP E&T Technical Assistance Cohort. Over ten months, ESEs in the cohort receive a combination of specialized training, technical assistance, and peer mentorship to support their success as SNAP E&T third-party partners.

Applications for the 2022 Technical Assistance Cohort will open in Summer 2022.

Our Technical Assistance Cohort
