Rebuilding Exchange
Rebuilding Exchange was established to promote reduction of waste in landfills through sustainable deconstruction and renovation building practices. Reclaimed materials, procured at zero cost, are sold at the warehouse at a slightly reduced cost to the community and support Rebuilding Exchange’s education, job training, and job development programs which foster individual, community, and economic growth in Evanston and beyond.
A $100K line of credit from RIIF will allow Rebuilding Exchange to bridge payroll expenses for a new pre-apprentice training program while they await reimbursement from an awarded Illinois Works Grant.
A second $110k bridge loan, paired with a $40k working capital loan from RIIF, will support their move into a newly leased space alleviating current capacity constraints. With the expansion, they’re projected to hire over 30 individuals per year in their workforce development program, with graduates transitioning into living-wage careers, ideally in the building trades.
