California leads the nation in the support for employment social enterprises (ESEs) — businesses that exist to create jobs and economic mobility for people breaking through barriers to employment (such as homelessness or incarceration).
And through a pioneering public-private partnership called CA RISE (California Regional Initiative for Social Enterprise), social enterprise in the state is set to expand further. California government has awarded 61 incredible ESEs a whopping $25 million in grant funding and capacity-building support.
This August, CA RISE officially launched, with an in-person gathering of participating ESE leaders in Sacramento, CA.
CA RISE is a project funded by the State of California, through the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA), and is managed by REDF (program lead) and Lendistry (fiscal agent).
