Step 1: Confirm eligibility to apply
REQUIRED – Complete the Eligibility Questionnaire for the 2025 Growth Portfolio to confirm your organization meets all foundational eligibility requirements and at least one strategic priority. This questionnaire will be open Wednesday, September 4th and close on Monday, September 16th.
REQUIRED – Attend or watch a recording of the informational webinar. You can review the presentation materials and recording.
If you are still unsure if your enterprise meets these requirements and is eligible to apply after completing the Eligibility Questionnaire for the 2025 Growth Portfolio you will be given an opportunity to share your questions with us.
Step 2: Complete an application
Organizations that are eligible to apply (based on the Eligibility Questionnaire for the 2025 Growth Portfolio), will receive a unique application link (from growthportfolio@redf.org) to the primary contact we have on file for each eligible applicant by Wednesday, September 18th. The application link will close on October 4th, 2024 at 5:00 pm PST.
Application Instructions:
The application is an online questionnaire with multiple-choice, numerical, and short-answer questions. We estimate that the application will take ~4-6 hours to complete and is organized into the following sections:
- Organization Information: basic information about your ESE (year established, industry, tax classification, etc.).
- Leadership Demographics: race/ethnicity, gender, and lived experiences of the Chief Executive Officer or Executive Director, senior leadership, and board.
- Business Model: description of the organization’s active business line(s) that produce goods or services for paying customers.
- Financial Data: financial reports for both the ESE and the parent organization (if applicable). This information is kept confidential.
- Employment Model & Supports: design and effectiveness of the organization’s employee support program, including, how your organization trains and supports ESE workers in getting quality jobs.
- Leadership & Vision: organizational vision and strategic goals for the next 1-3 years.
- Partnership Fit: organization’s needs and REDF’s expertise, as well as the organization’s interest in working with REDF.
- Organizational Capacity: ability and capacity to work closely with partners like REDF on technical assistance projects and to participate in learning conversations.
- Application Feedback: reflections about your application experience that will be used to improve future selection cycles.
For collaboration purposes, you can download a copy of the questionnaire here; however, we ask you to complete and submit the application online. Applicants can email growthportfolio@redf.org to request a copy of their previously completed REDF Annual Benchmarking Survey report and/or previously completed Growth Portfolio application, if applicable.
If you are unsure about how to respond to a question, encounter technical difficulties, or have general questions about the application and this process, please email the Growth Portfolio team at growthportfolio@redf.org. Our team will be happy to provide guidance on these questions. Likewise, our team will reach out directly if we have clarifying questions about your organization’s responses once your application is submitted.
Step 3: Participate in an interview with our team
Eligible applicants are invited to complete an interview with members of the Growth Portfolio team.
Timing: 1-hour interview, scheduled between Monday, October 21st and Friday, November 1st at a mutually convenient time.
Purpose: to learn more about each social enterprise, clarify application responses (including financials), dive deeper into the enterprise’s business model, employment model and upskilling focus, vision, leadership, organizational capacity, and partnership fit.
Participants: CEO or executive director (as well as the social enterprise director, if applicable), and other team members (up to a total of four).
Step 4: Receive a decision notification
Applicants will be notified no later than November 30th, 2024 on whether they have been selected, and participation in the 2025 Cohort will begin in January 2025.
