The Prospect KC

The Prospect KC is an Accelerator alum and nonprofit based in Kansas City, Missouri, working to address food justice in the city’s Eastside neighborhood. The Prospect KC runs a cafe and catering business, through which it hosts a culinary training program, employing those striving to overcome barriers, particularly people who have a history of homelessness or unstable housing. The organization facilitates comprehensive employee support services through a robust network of social service partnerships offering food assistance, housing, childcare, transportation, and job training.

A $100k loan from RIIF will allow The Prospect KC to fund payroll, rent, student meals, and other reimbursable expenses for its culinary training program, while awaiting proceeds from a ReBuild KC Neighborhood Grant. Through this financing, The Prospect KC will be better able to continue its planned growth, and to expand the total number of individuals served.
