The Challenge Program

The Challenge Program, a former Growth Portfolio member, Accelerator alum, and Impact Investing Fund borrower, is a construction training and life skills program for young adults overcoming barriers to employment. At its social enterprise, CP Furniture, youth participate in full-time, paid apprenticeships building custom solid wood furniture for commercial and residential clients.

A $183k bridge loan provided cash flow timing support as it awaits reimbursement from a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant. Loan proceeds will ensure construction can continue on its new facility which triples CP Furniture’s space. With the expansion, CP Furniture can increase its manufacturing capacity and continue growing its enterprise in order to serve more young people.
