People Advancing Reintegration

PAR-Recycle Works is a Philadelphia-area nonprofit electronics recycling business and social enterprise that provides transitional employment to people returning from prison. Program participants receive educational training in digital and financial literacy, workplace and industry safety standards, and inventory management, as well as coaching and mental health strategies. PAR’s recycling technicians are trained to collect, sort, disassemble, and move inventory that will be sold as scrap – and since 2016, the program has diverted over 2 million pounds of recyclables away from landfills.
