Kitchens for Good

Kitchens for Good (KFG) bridges the gap between the needs of individuals overcoming barriers to employment and opportunities in San Diego’s robust hospitality industry. Their state-approved apprenticeship programs train and employ individuals across a variety of hospitality disciplines. As an employee of KFG’s hospitality temporary staffing agency, WORKS, apprentices receive continued mentorship and support to ensure that wages and skills continue to grow as they progress in their careers.

Kitchens for Good secured its first loan from REDF Impact Investing Fund in 2017 to help fund the addition of team members to its catering and events staff. In 2023, KFG received a $500k line of credit that helped bridge grants and contract receivables so that KFG could continue to grow its programming and business lines while maintaining smooth and consistent operations.

In 2025, KFG received a new $1M line of credit from RIIF’s Growth & Mobility Fund which will help Kitchens for Good bridge the timing gap between grant expenses and reimbursements—fueling continued growth and a major new contract with San Diego County.
