As a manager for REDF Community, Sharmeen works hands-on with social enterprise leaders across the country to grow their businesses. From providing individualized support to building programmatic initiatives, she acts as an advocate and connector for enterprises providing jobs, training, and support to people breaking through barriers to employment. Sharmeen believes deeply in advancing equity to create a more inclusive economy that works for everyone.
Before joining REDF, Sharmeen worked at the Sheryl Sandberg Foundation, where she served as a community manager working with people living through adversity and grief. In her role, she oversaw the growth of virtual peer groups, launched a speaker series, and led annual surveys to learn from and strengthen the community. Before that, she worked at Tides as a communications consultant, guiding grassroots immigration nonprofits seeking to amplify their messaging and raise more funding.
Sharmeen holds a B.A. in political science and international relations from UC Berkeley. When not at work, you can find her traveling, hiking, cooking for friends, or nose-deep in a good book.
