Position Overview

REDF is seeking a Donor Relations Manager to help REDF’s development team reach the organization’s fundraising goals. As a member of the team you will play a critical role in REDF’s individual donor cultivation and stewardship. You will engage, cultivate, solicit, and most importantly steward REDF’s individual donors.  You will create and oversee the processes and systems to support individual donor giving at REDF, work collaboratively with the communications and marketing team, and assist in the overall efforts of the development team, which has an annual goal of $10-20M for each fiscal year. You will report to the Vice President of Development, Marketing and Communications, and support and collaborate with the Vice President and the President and CEO in cultivation and stewardship activities.


Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Cultivation and Solicitation of Individual Donors

  • Exercise considerable originality, independence, and resourcefulness to cultivate and steward donors that currently support REDF to create a high-quality donor experience(s) that leads to consistency in giving and increase gift levels year over year. Cultivation and stewardship include the creation and implementation approach for each donor, for example: site visits, coordination of major donor events, and other experiences, communications, proposals, and acknowledgements
  • Partner with colleagues throughout REDF to develop strategies that align with the current work of the organization and planned programming that aligns with the overall organization’s strategic plan
  • Work closely with the development team and the VP of Development, Marketing and Communications to build a prospect portfolio and ensure the flow of prospects into the giving pipeline from identification through solicitation
  • Plan and execute small-scale (100 participants at most) fundraising/cultivation/donor appreciation events, managing all aspects of event operations and logistics, including managing invite and RSVP lists and liaising with venue and vendors
  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors that give $10,000/year and above, employing strategic thought process and collaboration with the team to secure annual commitments


Individual Donor Systems & Data Management

  • Manage individual prospect/funder data using Salesforce CRM
  • Manage grant proposal and reporting calendar and information in Salesforce for REDF’s current and prospective grants
  • Manage data analysis and reports for individual funders in support of development analytics, donor communications and events planning
  • Provide regular reports on individual fundraising performance


Essential Qualifications

  • Excellent and proven project management skills, with the ability to stay organized, anticipate needs, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • At least 5 years of experience in individual donor management (cultivation, stewardship, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure, juggle multiple priorities, manage time independently, and pivot when needed
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and communicate clearly
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with people from a range backgrounds, experience, and skill levels
  • Enjoy working both independently and as part of a broader team
  • Flexible – work well with some degree of ambiguity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to travel up to 30% to visit donors
  • Ability to work in an open office environment


Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Position is considered sedentary and no unusual physical requirements are necessary to perform most daily tasks. Certain computer applications, programs, and documents may require an ability to differentiate colors, shapes, and symbols.
