REDF Receives $7 Million Social Innovation Fund (SIF) Grant to Expand Social Enterprises
REDF has received an award of $7 million from the federal Social Innovation Fund (SIF) program for two years, with a potential total award amount of $17.5 million over 5 years. 95% of this award will be disbursed as subgrants to social enterprises that provide support and jobs for people who face significant barriers to employment including histories of homelessness, incarceration, and mental health disabilities.
This is REDF’s second SIF award, following a 5-year $7.5M investment from the SIF in 2010 which funded REDF’s portfolio of ten social enterprises in California.
With this new award from the SIF program, REDF will select a portfolio of up to 25 social enterprises located in California and other regions of the country through a competitive national process.
The deadline to submit a Letter of Intent was September 18th. Submissions are no longer being accepted.
