Farber Fellows Program
Since 1997 the Farber Program has offered MBAs a unique opportunity to use their business and management skills within a social enterprise.
REDF offers full-year Farber Fellowships within REDF’s portfolio of social enterprises. Farber Fellows are hired on a rolling basis, based upon the human capital needs of REDF Portfolio enterprises. Once hired, each Farber Fellow is considered an employee of the REDF Portfolio nonprofit organization for the duration of the year-long fellowship.
During the year, each Farber Fellow works with a REDF Portfolio social enterprise on projects to support the business in achieving its goals. Examples of past projects include managing the turnaround and growth strategy of two retail stores employing individuals in recovery from drug addiction and homelessness, and managing the implementation of a new financial accounting system across several enterprises.
In addition to their specific project work, Farber Fellows are involved in other strategic activities of the enterprise and parent nonprofit organization.
Farber Fellows also have the opportunity to participate in REDF Portfolio-wide activities, including quarterly meetings, conferences, seminars, and educational and networking events with REDF staff, portfolio members, and other individuals and organizations in the social enterprise and venture philanthropy arenas.
Opportunities to attend local, regional, and national conferences in the field of social entrepreneurship may also be made available to Farber Fellows.
Farber Fellows will join the 80+ Farber Alumni who are pursuing careers in social enterprise, nonprofit management and the for-profit sector. Learn about the experience of Farber Fellow, Caroline Pappajohn.
REDF will have a table at Net Impact’s Career Expo each year. REDF staff will be available to meet you and answer any questions you may have.
Send an email to farber@redf.org to ensure that the Farber Intern job descriptions are sent directly to you.
If you have questions about the Farber Fellows Program, please contact Emily Bolton at ebolton@redf.org.
